Weather or not

It's been ungodly hot and dry here. Well, for the most part; there've been some nice days where the temperature didn't roast you to a crisp. Still, the air conditioner hasn't had a reprieve except at night.
We need rain badly, desperately even. The crops around here, corn and soy beans, are really looking sad for wanting it. If you're making hay or harvesting wheat it's been great, but that's about it. The lawns are brown, the grass brittle. When you mow the lawn, it's mostly to cut those spindly looking tall weeds, the only thing that seems to grow during this kind of weather. I've even taken to watering down the horse lot around their feeders and some beyond, just to lay the dust. I keep the area around the water tank muddy as I can, just so they have something wet to walk in and keep their hooves from becoming too brittle from the otherwise hard, impacted dirt.
If you're not a country person and know some about crops, you might not notice things. But the corn is what we call "spikey", in other words, the leaves are tightly curled, not flat and unfurled like healthy crops that have enough moisture.
There's a great chance of rain tomorrow and for once I won't complain. The chances of storms are pretty decent but it's a small price to pay for much needed precipitation. Believe me, coming from my fingertips that's saying a lot, because I hate, loathe and despise storms, lol.
